Hi. My name's Laura and I'm a mum of two boys.

There's Lawrence who's 2 and I've just had Hugo, who's just 6 weeks old. I'll do my best to update this every other day, so please come back to see how I'm coping.

Day 26 – Potty training – have we cracked it?

Good afternoon. Just having a 5 minute break before some friends appear and Xavi is in bed having a nice little sleep. He’s calling them his little sleeps, which is very nice and Hugo is just here wondering what on earth his Mummy’s doing. A little time has passed. We’ve just been busy busy bees. We had the Christening which was absolutely fab. The boys were brilliant. It rained unfortunately on and off the whole day. In fact we had a massive storm but it was very good. Absolutely exhausting. I think it took a little while for me to recover from that. Mostly we have been potty training. Xavi decided it was time, which took the decision out of my hands. I was very pleased. I was very very, very proud of him. The first 3 days we had plenty of accidents which I’m told is a good thing because then he knows what it’s like to be uncomfortable and wet and stuff and then 5 days on from there he hasn’t had an accident – touch wood – since the third day. Not one accident. I am very, very proud of him. Very pleased. It was obviously the right time – he is 2.5 years old. We went to our first Toddler Group since he’s been potty trained today and he came over and found me and found his potty and job’s a good’un! I am really, really pleased. That’s not to say that we’re not going to have plenty of other accidents in the future but for now we’re doing really well and I’m really pleased. So we’re in our big boy pants.

Day 25 – If they’re not WaterWipes – they’re not right…

Shopping trip was big success yesterday. Both boys were fab and we managed to buy a whole load of things and have a nice lunch. Yes, so, very happy with that. We were only 2.5 hours. It’s not really that extreme shopping but Hugo slept his whole way through, which was brilliant, and Xavi seemed to thoroughly enjoy getting out and about. We’re now onto Tuesday and we’ve just been to Toddler Group. I arrived at Toddler Group to feed Hugo and went to wipe my hands beforehand with my WaterWipes and discovered that I hadn’t got any in my bag. Agh! Literally I was kind of thinking OK – there was nowhere to wash my hands. On the counter they had some ‘other brand’ of wipes so I had to make do and it was horrible. Honestly, my hands stink and are slimy. Yes, just really getting quite used to having my WaterWipes for everything. Oh look. Someone wants to say hello. Yes , so I was really upset that I had left them behind. Won’t be doing that again. Right, time for lunch when he’s finished bouncing on the sofa. He’s pulled the whole sofa apart I might just show you, and the chair because I’m washing the throws for the Christening on Saturday and he thinks it’s great fun. This is why…

Day 24 – WaterWipes to the rescue

Morning. We’ve just woken this little boy up at 8.20. Mummy woke up with quite a jolt thinking, “What’s the time?” as you do and it was 8.20 and I’ve been rushing around. We’ve had our milk, which is good and we’re just about to go and wake big brother Xavi. It’s now nearly 9.10.

And we’re up! Just had round two on the changing table cos Mummy was talking to the camera Hugo wee’ed all over the place because I was too busy with this so we had to have a whole rig change. It’s all go isn’t it? And this is Hugo’s lovely cot where he has got lots of space because he was getting very cramped in his pram top. He seems to love it. Anyway we’ve got lots to do. We’ve got breakfast haven’t we Xavi? For Mummy and Xavi. All right then…

Thought I’d give you a little demo this morning. Right, we’ve finished our breakfast. Xavi! Right there we go. Nice bit of breakfast round our mouth. Not too bad actually. So I’m going to get out my WaterWipes. Look, look. One WaterWipe comes out when I do this, unlike some of the others I’ve used in the past when you get 12 when you only want one. Sneaky, I think. That works out quite expensive. So, we’re going to just wipe his mouth – there we go. Guilt free mouth wiping! I really genuinely would never ever use a wipe on his mouth otherwise because they would most definitely make him sore not to mention all the rubbish they put in other wipes. Right Xav… say bye bye.

Day 23 – The boys have their own den!

Just thought I’d video, show you, that the boys are building a boys’ den in the garden – otherwise known as a Wendy House – for Xavi and Hugo when they are… well for Hugo when he’s a bit older and Xavi now. He’s thoroughly involved in the building of it. Where’s he gone now? And it’s the boys’ project of an evening. Thoroughly enjoying it.

Day 22 – Typical Summer’s day

On the phone to Granny, first thing in the morning. Say bye bye. See you soon. Morning! So, yes… This morning apparently baby wants some shoes on but I’m not convinced he does. Still trying though. Baby doesn’t seem to mind. Just thought I’d say, it’s 8.50 in the morning and I’m getting ready now to go to a toddler group at 10 o’clock. I am always, always, always late but it’s not through the lack of trying but I’ve got an awful lot to do and I’ll let you know whether I’m on time. Yesterday we went to go to a toddler group for an hour and a quarter and we were half an hour late and we got soaked to the bone because we got caught in the biggest downpour and I can’t find my rain cover for my pram anywhere so poor baby got a little bit wet – which was another change of clothes. Anyway, I will speak to you hopefully at about 9.45 when I am leaving. Wish me luck!

Day 21 – A night out!

Evening. Just off out in a bit…. Oh I’ve just made my baby jump out of his skin! So sorry darling! Ah! I’m so sorry! You were daydreaming weren’t you? Mummy’s big booming voice suddenly… Where was I? Anyway, evening. Just trying to get ready to go out. My Mum’s coming over to babysit. I think it’s only about the 4th/5th time I’ve been out in the evening with my husband for no reason at all – just because we can – since I had Xavi, 2 and a bit years ago so it’s quite nice. Hubby was adamant. I actually feel like putting my feet up with a cold beer and going to bed early, but… no…I’m sure it will be lovely. I’m looking forward to going out. It’s been a very, very hot day, beautiful day, got lots done but, anyway… tired Mummy, off out and looking forward to it. Speak to you soon…

Day 20 – Just had a weekend away

Hi, Tuesday morning after a Bank Holiday weekend, a long one for us because Daddy took Friday off so that we could go away. Went down to Dorset to enjoy the sun and sea and typical British weather – it was abysmal. We had sideways winds, so bad that we actually couldn’t go onto the beach on Saturday because the car park… we got out the car and all the kids had so much grit in their eyes from the car park that, basically, we had to get back in the car and abort mission. It was a very good weekend. The boys were absolutely fantastically behaved. There were cousins and all sorts to play with so that always helps but yeah – didn’t get to bed until probably 10-11 o’clock each night. Needless to say, Xavi is exhausted today. He’s been in bed since 11 o’clock and it is now – oh 1.55 and I’ve sneaked 5 minutes to talk to you. Hugo is enormous. He has got so big. At 11 weeks old he doesn’t fit in his Moses basket any more so I have spent the last 2 hours that Xavi and Hugo have been asleep, trawling the internet looking for a cot bed to put Xavi in so that Hugo can have the cot that Xavi is in. All very complicated and all very boring. I’d far rather have had my feet up for the last 2 hours. Anyway…

Day 19 – Hugo’s moving into a cot

Hi! I’ve had a very good day today – a very nice sunny day today. The boys were fantastically behaved which is always a bonus. I feel still pretty rubbish, not sure why. Just feeling shattered, no energy but anyway, we got through the day. We had a really good one. The boys have really been very, very good today. Hugo is moving into a cot tomorrow. All ordered. Mattress in situ. There we have it, ready for my big boy to move in to because he is getting a little bit big for this. This is the third night that he has… the third evening that he has gone off at 7pm. I know it’s quarter past now, he went off 15 minutes ago which is lovely. It’s one of those things where we enjoyed getting to spend the evening with him, you know, spending a bit of time just with him but it’s also really nice, that the last 3 evenings we have had some semblance of an evening so I’m very, very pleased. OK, signing out. Bye.

Day 18 – Things are getting easier…

Hi, it’s Wednesday. Having a good week so far even though we had the jabs on Monday, the dreaded jabs, I hate them. Hugo did scream – not for long. Literally it was nothing. I think it was more of a deal for me and then we were told 48 hours to know really if he has had a reaction or not. He’s been a little bit unsettled since and I don’t know what it could be. He’s not really crying. He’s just not really sleeping like he was during the day. I can’t complain because he is sleeping brilliantly at night – I’m really very, very, very lucky, but I don’t know, he’s has just fallen asleep for the first time this morning and woken up 5 minutes later so I’m not sure what that’s all about. Xavi has got a cough. He woke up in the night coughing a lot needing Mummy or Daddy. So, I need some matchsticks please.

Day 17 – First mascara in 6 months

Morning! Just in the process of packing up the kitchen sink to go out for the day. It’s Saturday, so I’ve got a very helpful Daddy about. Just taking with us 3 bottles, 3 powders, a whole bunch of nappies for Hugo, a whole bunch of nappies for Xavi, a change of clothes for Xavi, a change of clothes for Hugo, a big bundle of WaterWipes and, what else? Yes, the pram, the pushchair all kinds of things. Anyway… First time I have put a little bit of mascara on in about 6 months and I know I should make more of an effort but I don’t really ever get time. Xavi was very helpful whilst I was putting my make-up on this morning, well my mascara on. He wanted to help so and he had the whole contents of my make-up bag out so… It’s just not something that I can do every day. Anyway…
